“I’ve dreamed of this for a long time” – Messi tearful after scoring over Pele’s record

The Argentine captain and his team thrashed the Bolivian side earlier this morning on the still ongoing World cup qualifiers matches.

Messi scored a hat trick against the Bolivian and subsequently broke Pele’s goalscoring record for a CONMEBOL nation, and he was understandably emotional.

His first goal came at the 14th minutes of the first half, a cheeky nutmeg it was as he kicked the ball inside the net and thus the goal saw him go equal with Pele at 77 goals.

During the second half of the game, at the 65th and 89th minutes, he set another record of 79 goals presently.

“I have dreamed of this for a long time and I thank God it was given to me,” he said while still on the pitch after the match.

“It is a unique moment because of how it happened and after so much waiting.

“There was no better way for it to be and to be able to be here, celebrating, is something incredible.

“My mother and my brothers are up there, they suffered a lot too. I’m very happy.” he concluded .

It’s also worthy to note that this is Messi’s seventh hat trick, however this is his first in his home.
