R&B singer R Kelly has been found guilty of all counts in his racketeering and sex trafficking trial after several years of rumours and allegations of him having sexual misconduct with minors.

The jury which comprised of seven men and five women has unanimously convicted Kelly of being guilty of the alleged crimes. This verdict came after 2 days of deliberation by the jury.

The music star will be spending the rest of his life in prison as he was found guilty on all nine counts including racketeering and violations of the Mann Act, which prohibits the transport of “any woman or girl” across state lines for any “immoral purpose.”

Assistant US Attorney Maria Cruz Melendez said at the beginning of the case “This case is not about a celebrity who likes to party a lot. This case is about a predator.”

The jurors were able to reach a conclusion after they requested for transcripts of testimony by two former Kelly employees and for a legal clarification, thus they found it wanting as they made their final decision.

Kelly pleaded not guilty of the charges and while the verdict was being read out, he remained motionless.

This verdict decision came more than 10 years after the musician was acquitted of child pornography charges at an Illinois state trial.
